Gift-giving season is right around the corner. First comes Thanksgiving and then Christmas, followed by the New Year.
Have you thought about participating in surprise gift exchanges? Or have you been getting invitations or private messages about joining one? If you do, the following information we are going to share could be useful to you.
Scammers are now inviting people to join their gift exchange campaigns (in various forms) on social platforms, claiming that participants would only need to prepare one gift in return for 36 gifts. Sounds too good to be true? You got that right – it turns out participants will NOT receive anything back as these gift exchange campaigns are just a type of “pyramid scheme.”
As we have suggested in the past. If it sounds too good to be true, there is usually something ‘fishy’ about it. Think twice before you fall into the trap. Save your time and money to prepare gifts for your friends and family instead.
