Have you come across websites that feature outlet sales from Brooks Running, the American sportswear company? The deals advertised on these sites seem too good to be true, and they really are – these Brooks outlet sites are Scams! Read on for details about Brooks outlet scams and check out our tips to prevent them.

    Brooks Outlet Site Scam

Brooks (or Brooks Running) is a well-known sportswear brand based in the US, with more than 100 years of history; the official, legitimate Brooks online store can be found at brooksrunning.com. Unfortunately, scammers are impersonating Brooks to create fake online shops with which to trick people and steal their money. Below is an example:

In fact, even back in 2021, there were numerous complaints and inquiries about whether these Brooks outlets sites are legit or not. Potential victims have reached out to Brooks’ Facebook page about fake Brooks outlets sites.

Brooks has already confirmed that these sales campaign/outlet webpages are fake, and further state that they DON’T have online outlet stores and that there is ONLY ONE official Facebook page and official website (brooksrunning.com).

    Stay Away from Scams

The most important thing is to do your homework before placing an order. Is the website legitimate? Besides checking if the online shop is legitimate, you can also review the website to see if there’re any of the following red flags:

    • No customer reviews or lots of 5-star (but irrelevant) customer reviews.
    • No contact info or it’s suspicious — a Gmail or Outlook email address, for example.
    • The site is full of too-good-to-be-true deals.
    • The site has no social media presence.
    • An unusual/nonsensical URL.
    • There is a flash sale countdown clock.
    • A low Trust score on ScamAdviser.
