Costco 40th anniversary? It’s a SCAM! Recently there are a lot of fake Costco anniversary campaigns. Did you receive any of them?
How the scam unfolds
We’ve seen anniversary scams many times. Scammers impersonate famous brands and spread fake promotional campaigns via social media, prompting you to click on their malicious links. Or, one of your contacts’ account has been compromised first and then used to send spam messages with scam links to you.
If you do click on the links, you could have your Facebook account hacked. Or, you will be taken to a fake online survey page, where you would end up exposing your personal information. What’s even worse, you could inadvertently end up sending scam links to all your contacts as well, creating even more victims!
