Horizon Data Settlement – NOT a Scam

A lawsuit against Horizon Actuarial Services, LLC and Horizon Healthcare Services, Inc. (collectively, “Horizon”) led to the Horizon Data Settlement. The lawsuit alleged that Horizon failed to protect the personal information of its members, employees, and other individuals, from a data breach in November 2021.

The data breach involved two Horizon servers that attackers gained unauthorized access to, exposing the personal data of approximately 100,000 individuals who were enrolled in the benefit plans that Horizon provided services for. The personal data included:

    • Names
    • Social Security numbers
    • Addresses
    • Dates of Birth
    • Benefit plan details
    • Other sensitive information

Horizon denies any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $8.73 million to settle the lawsuit to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation. According to the settlement website, you may be eligible to claim from the settlement if you live in the US and your private information was impacted by the Horizon data breach in November 2021, and if you received a mail notice about it.
