    What is Textbroker?

Textbroker, launched in Germany in 2007 and now headquartered in the US,  is an online platform that connects writers with companies and individual clients who are in need of paid content. The many writing briefs include: product descriptions, web copy, press releases, blog posts, technical articles, and social media posts. With 100,000 authors and 50,000 companies registered, it’s a big player in the content world.

Whilst Textbroker has international reach, it is primarily geared towards the US market. Writers must:

    • Be at least 18 years old.
    • Reside in the US (you can also apply to Textbroker’s sister sites if you are in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, or Australia).
    • Have an active PayPal or US bank account.

    Is Textbroker Legit?

Textbroker is most definitely “not a scam”. They have a reputation for professional reliability and for paying their writers on time. If you’re a natural content creator with some free time, it’s not a bad side hustle.

On the other hand, the pay is pretty abysmal — particularly for lower-rated writers, which most will start out as. Furthermore, as with most middleman/broker types Textbroker takes a pretty large commission from the fee, arguably far more than is warranted in regards to admin costs or ensuring company profitability. Lastly, bear in mind that it is all “ghostwriting” and may not be the best move if you’re looking to increase your portfolio and writing credits.

Bottom line: there’s no issue with security and/or legitimateness, so as long as it’s not your only income source, it could be worthwhile spending some spare time on.
