    Receive messages on GroupMe that say you’ve won an Apple iPad Pro? Be careful of the GroupMe iPad giveaway/raffle scams! Here’s how the scam unfolds:

    Scammers contact you via GroupMe, telling you that you could have a chance to win some super expensive products like Apple iPad Pros, iPhone 13, or Apple TVs to try to trick you into clicking on the phishing link:

    If you proceed with the survey, you will be instructed to claim the free iPad by hitting the “Claim Now!” button:

    The button will take you to another site that requests your personal information, including your home address and phone number, and in the end, it may even ask for your credit card credentials.

    Before you can receive the gift, you have to pay for the delivery by entering credit card information. Scammers, of course, will record all your credentials and use it for identity thefts. Don’t fall for it!

    How to Protect Yourself

    • Double-check the sender’s mobile number/email address.
    • Free gifts or prizes are always a major red flag!
